Your itinerary

Arrival in Arusha
Day 1

Arrival in Arusha

Welcomed at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to a family-friendly lodge in Arusha, gateway to the northern circuit, with time for children to enjoy the gardens before your first dinner together.

Tarangire National Park
Day 2

Tarangire National Park

Famous for ancient baobabs and enormous elephant herds — children delight in spotting elephant, giraffe, zebra, warthog and monkeys on a relaxed game drive with fewer crowds.

Ngorongoro Highlands
Day 3

Ngorongoro Highlands

Journey through fertile highlands, visiting a welcoming local community for music, dance, storytelling and crafts, then arrive at a lodge with sweeping highland views.

Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti
Day 4

Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater to search for elephant, lion, buffalo, hippo and the endangered black rhino, then continue west to the endless plains of the Serengeti for dinner under the stars.

Exploring the Serengeti
Day 5

Exploring the Serengeti

Every drive brings something new — lion cubs beneath acacias, giraffe, elephant families and, in season, the Great Migration. Guides share stories of behaviour and conservation, then campfire tales beneath a starlit sky.

Lake Manyara National Park
Day 6

Lake Manyara National Park

Groundwater forest meets the alkaline lake beneath the Rift Valley escarpment — tree-climbing lions, baboons, elephant, giraffe and, in the dry season, thousands of pink flamingos.

Family safari & leisure
Day 7

Family safari & leisure

A final game drive or a relaxed day at your lodge — many offer pools, nature walks and open space for children to unwind while you reflect on the week's memories.

Farewell Tanzania
Day 8

Farewell Tanzania

After breakfast, transfer back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey, memories of the bush staying with you for years.

Rhythm of the bush

A typical safari day

No two days are ever the same — but most follow this gentle, golden rhythm. Everything flexes around you and your guide’s advice.

Dawn

As the bush wakes

An early start with coffee as the sun rises. Animals are most active in the cool morning light — the best time for sightings and photography.

Mid-morning

Brunch in camp

Return to camp for a hearty brunch, or take a picnic and stay out longer if the wildlife is calling.

Midday

Rest & relax

The hottest part of the day is for resting — a siesta, a swim, or simply watching the plains from your veranda as the heat shimmers.

Afternoon

Back into the wild

Set out again as the day cools for an afternoon game drive, often the most rewarding hours as predators begin to stir.

Sunset

Sundowners

Pause for a drink in hand as the African sun goes down — one of the safari’s great rituals.

Evening

Dinner under the stars

Return to camp for dinner beneath a sky thick with stars, the distant sound of the wild your soundtrack, before you plan tomorrow with your guide.
